App: ioPay
Version: v5.2.0 (3970)
Feature: BinoAI (AI Assistant)
Severity: Medium (Functional Relevance)
Device: Android
When asking BinoAI for "my current temperature", the AI ignores the user's implied geographic context (Philippines) and provides weather data for major U.S. cities instead. The AI appears to have no access to device location or geolocation context, and defaults to a generic U.S.-centric response.
Open ioPay and launch BinoAI.
Ask: "my current temperature" (or similar location-aware weather query).
Observe the response.
The AI should either:
Detect the user's location via device permissions/GPS and provide local weather.
Ask the user to specify their city/location if location access is unavailable.
Provide weather for the user's region based on IP geolocation or timezone.
Given the user's context (Philippines, Pampanga, Mexico), the expected answer should be weather information for Mexico, Pampanga, Philippines or nearby areas.
BinoAI returned weather data for U.S. cities only (New York, Chicago, Houston, Miami, Los Angeles), timestamped to "Eastern Standard Time (EST)". This is irrelevant to a user located in the Philippines (UTC+8 / PST).
Implement Location Permissions: Request location access to provide localized weather.
Context Awareness: If location is unavailable, the AI should ask "Which city?" rather than assuming U.S. locations.
IP Geolocation: Use network-based location approximation as a fallback for regional relevance.
Timezone Awareness: The AI previously demonstrated incorrect date awareness (Bug #4); fixing system time sync may help with location context.
